What Actually Happens During an Akashic Records Reading?

There is something rather wonderful about the moment someone books their first Akashic Records reading.

Usually, they have questions. Sometimes they have a whole list of them. They want to know why a particular relationship has been so difficult, why they keep repeating the same experiences, or why they have always felt a little different from everyone around them.

Other times, they don’t have a single question. They just have a feeling.

Something has been stirring inside them. Perhaps they’re going through a significant life change, experiencing a spiritual awakening, or finding that the things that once made sense no longer fit quite so comfortably.

They don’t necessarily know what they’re looking for. They just know there’s something more they want to understand. And that’s often a lovely place to begin.

First, What Are the Akashic Records?

Within the spiritual traditions and teachings I work with, the Akashic Records are understood as an energetic record of the soul’s experiences, relationships, lessons, choices, and possibilities.

I sometimes describe them as a library of consciousness.

Imagine that your soul has been gathering experiences throughout its existence. Every lifetime, every relationship, every lesson, every remarkable discovery contributes to a much larger story than the one you’re living right now.

The Akashic Records offer a spiritual framework for exploring that story.

They aren’t a physical library, of course. We don’t walk through a doorway, pull a dusty book off a shelf, and discover that in 1432 we were a particularly unpleasant tax collector.

Although I must admit, sometimes the information that emerges can be equally surprising!

For me, working in the Records is an intuitive and spiritual practice. It’s a way of exploring the deeper themes and meanings that may be influencing someone’s present experience.

And while people interpret the Records in different ways, I always encourage clients to approach what emerges with curiosity and discernment, rather than treating every impression as an unquestionable fact.

You Don’t Have to Be Psychic to Have a Reading

This is something I wish more people understood. You don’t need to meditate for three hours before your appointment. You don’t need to know your spirit guides, understand chakras, or have any previous experience with energy healing. You don’t even need to be particularly spiritual.

Curiosity is enough.

Some of the most interesting readings happen with people who are simply trying to make sense of their lives. They might be wondering why they feel drawn to a particular place, why they have an unusual talent, or why they seem to encounter the same relationship dynamics over and over again.

And sometimes, underneath all those questions, there’s a much simpler one: Why am I the way I am? That’s a question worth exploring.

So What Actually Happens During a Session?

When we meet for an Akashic Records reading, we begin with a conversation. I want to understand what brought you to the session and what you’re hoping to explore.

You may have specific questions, or you may prefer to see what comes forward. Both approaches are welcome.

I use the spiritual access practices I’ve developed through my training and experience to enter the Records and begin exploring the information that becomes available through my intuitive process.

I may receive impressions, symbols, images, feelings, or ideas that we can discuss together.

Sometimes we explore a person’s soul profile, including the spiritual characteristics, gifts, and patterns associated with their soul. Other times, the session moves toward relationships, recurring life lessons, or experiences that seem to carry a significance beyond their immediate circumstances.

And sometimes we discover that the question someone arrived with isn’t quite the question they most want answered. I love those moments.

Not because I believe I know someone’s life better than they do, but because a new perspective can open an entirely different conversation.

The reading is collaborative. You’re welcome to ask questions, reflect on what resonates, and tell me when something doesn’t make sense. You remain the authority on your own life.

Your Soul Has More Than One Story

One of my favourite aspects of Akashic exploration is the opportunity to look beyond the identity we have developed in this lifetime.

We know ourselves through our families, our relationships, our occupations, and the experiences that have shaped us. But what happens when we begin considering ourselves through a much broader spiritual lens?

What if some of our natural abilities feel familiar because we’ve been developing them for a very long time? What if the subjects we’re drawn to, the people we recognize instantly, or the places that feel strangely like home are invitations to explore something deeper?

In my work, we may explore concepts such as soul groups, soul gifts, spiritual lessons, and experiences associated with other lifetimes.

These are spiritual interpretations rather than scientifically established histories, but they can provide fascinating material for reflection.

Sometimes the most meaningful discovery isn’t an extraordinary story about a past life. It’s recognizing a strength you’ve been overlooking in this one.

What About Relationships?

Oh, relationships! If there’s one subject that can send us searching for deeper answers, it’s the people we love, the people who challenge us, and the people we simply cannot seem to forget.

Why do certain people feel familiar immediately? Why do we sometimes find ourselves repeating the same relationship patterns with entirely different people? Why do some connections seem to change the direction of our lives?

In an Akashic reading, we can explore the spiritual themes surrounding your experience of a relationship.

Perhaps you’re learning about boundaries, self-worth, trust, independence, or the difference between loving someone and feeling responsible for them.

We might explore the idea of soul agreements or shared lessons, while remembering that these are spiritual frameworks, not proof of another person’s intentions.

And there’s an important ethical boundary here. An Akashic Records reading isn’t permission to investigate someone else’s private spiritual life without their consent.

We can explore your experiences, your choices, and the meaning a relationship holds for you. That alone can be incredibly revealing.

Can the Records Tell You Your Future?

This is another question people naturally ask. I don’t approach the Records as a fixed script of everything that will happen.

I believe we have choices, and those choices matter.

Sometimes a reading may explore possible directions, opportunities, or themes that seem relevant to someone’s future. But possibilities aren’t guarantees.

I would much rather someone leave a session feeling empowered to make their own decisions than believing their life has already been decided for them.

Your spiritual journey shouldn’t take away your freedom. It should help you recognize it.

Sometimes the Most Important Discovery Is Already Inside You

I’ve noticed something over the years. People often come to a reading hoping to discover something extraordinary about themselves.

Perhaps they want to know their soul’s origins, whether they have spiritual gifts, or what their purpose might be. And those can be wonderful subjects to explore.

But sometimes the most meaningful moment is much quieter.

Someone begins recognizing a pattern they’ve lived with for years. They see how a particular belief has influenced their decisions. They begin to consider that a quality they’ve always dismissed might actually be one of their strengths.

Or they realize that the life they’re trying so hard to return to may no longer be the life they want.

Not every meaningful spiritual discovery needs to arrive with fireworks. Sometimes it arrives as a small, peaceful realization: Oh. That makes sense.

And suddenly, there’s room to see things differently.

What If You’re Interested in Learning to Read the Records Yourself?

This is another lovely development I see in people who begin exploring their spiritual lives. At first, they’re curious about what someone else might discover.

Then they begin wondering whether they could learn to access that kind of spiritual insight themselves. And that’s where the journey becomes especially interesting.

Learning to work with the Akashic Records involves more than memorizing a prayer or learning how to ask questions.

In my teaching, we explore spiritual preparation, intuitive development, ethical boundaries, discernment, and the practices used to access and work within the Records.

We also explore soul profiles, soul lessons, soul gifts, and the different kinds of information students may encounter.

Some people want to develop a personal spiritual practice. Others hope to eventually offer readings to others.

Both journeys begin with learning to trust your own process while maintaining healthy boundaries and thoughtful discernment.

You Don’t Have to Know What You’re Looking For

If you’ve been curious about the Akashic Records but haven’t quite known where to begin, I hope this gives you a better idea of what a reading can be like.

You don’t have to arrive with a perfect question. You don’t have to understand every spiritual concept. And you certainly don’t have to have your life figured out before you come.

Sometimes the most interesting journeys begin when we’re willing to consider a different perspective on something we’ve been carrying for a long time.

Perhaps you’re curious about your soul’s gifts. Perhaps you’re trying to understand a repeating pattern. Perhaps you’ve been feeling a change inside yourself that you can’t quite explain.

Or perhaps you’re simply wondering what else there is to discover.

Whatever brings you to the Records, I believe the most valuable thing you can take away is a deeper sense of curiosity, understanding, and personal possibility.

Because the purpose of exploring your soul’s story isn’t to become trapped in everything you may have been. It’s to become more conscious of who you’re choosing to be now.
