There comes a moment on every spiritual journey when we stop asking, “How do I become someone else?”

And we begin asking a much quieter question.

How do I become myself again?

For years, I thought healing was about fixing the parts of me that were broken.

I thought awakening meant becoming wiser, stronger, more spiritual, more enlightened.

Then one day I realized something.

Most of the time, I wasn’t trying to become someone new.

I was trying to find my way back to someone I’d somehow wandered away from.

We Leave Ourselves A Little At A Time

Very few people wake up one morning feeling completely disconnected from themselves.

Usually it happens slowly.

A difficult season.

A relationship that drains us.

A stressful job.

A loss.

A disappointment.

Too much worrying.

Too much rushing.

Too much carrying everyone else.

Little by little, we drift.

One day we wake up and think:

“I don’t even know who I am anymore.”

I don’t believe we lose ourselves.

I think we simply wander.

Home Isn’t A Place

When I say “come home to yourself,” I don’t mean a house.

I mean that feeling when your shoulders relax.

When your breathing slows.

When your thoughts become kinder.

When you suddenly recognize yourself again.

You know that feeling.

It’s the moment you realize:

“Oh…

There you are.”

Build Your Way Home Before You Need It

One of the greatest gifts you can give yourself is creating a list of the things that help you come home.

Not after you’re overwhelmed.

Before.

Because when we’ve shifted into a heavier place, it’s surprisingly easy to forget what nourishes us.

For me, coming home has looked like very ordinary things.

A cat purring beside me.

Calling my daughter because she always makes me laugh.

Stopping at the grocery store on the way home and buying ingredients for chili, stew, roast chicken, or chocolate chip cookies.

Lighting a candle.

Watching the birds outside my window.

Putting on comfortable clothes.

Doing a load of laundry.

Going to bed early.

None of these things solve my problems.

But they help me remember who I am while I solve them.

Your Magic Will Look Different Than Mine

Maybe your way home isn’t baking.

Maybe it’s fishing.

Gardening.

Painting.

Listening to music.

Walking through the forest.

Sitting beside a lake.

Drinking tea with a friend.

Reading a good book.

Watching your grandchildren play.

The activity itself isn’t the magic.

The magic is what it awakens inside you.

Anything that reconnects you to your soul becomes sacred.

Ordinary Things Can Open Extraordinary Doors

When people think of spiritual experiences, they often imagine visions, profound meditations, psychic messages, or mystical encounters.

I’ve experienced those too.

But I’ve noticed something curious.

Those extraordinary moments often arrive after very ordinary ones.

After a good night’s sleep.

After nourishing my body.

After taking a walk.

After grounding myself.

After laughing.

After allowing myself to simply be human.

The ordinary prepares us for the extraordinary.

Not because the ordinary is separate from the magic.

Because it is part of the magic.

Learning To Walk Both Worlds

I’ve come to believe that spiritual growth isn’t about escaping this world.

It’s about belonging more fully to it.

It’s about learning how to explore the mysteries of Spirit without losing touch with the Earth beneath our feet.

It’s learning how to fly…

and how to land.

To stand with one foot in the physical world and one foot in the spiritual world.

To trust both.

To honour both.

To walk both worlds.

Your Way Home

Take a few quiet minutes today and ask yourself:

Who helps me remember who I am?

Where do I feel most like myself?

What activities leave me feeling more whole than when I started?

What brings me peace?

What reminds me that life is still beautiful?

Write those things down.

Keep the list somewhere you’ll find it on difficult days.

Because someday, when life feels heavier than it should, you won’t have to search for your way home.

Your list will remember for you.

And perhaps that’s one of the kindest gifts we can give ourselves.

A Gentle Invitation

If this article spoke to your heart, you’re going to love my upcoming companion resource, You’re Not Blocked—You’ve Shifted Dimensions.

Inside you’ll find a dimensional shift checksheet, a guided grounding meditation, a visual grounding circuit, and practical exercises to help you reconnect with yourself when life suddenly feels heavier than it should.

And if you’re feeling like you’ve wandered a little farther from home than you’d like, I’d be honoured to walk beside you.

Through Akashic Reiki, Akashic Records readings, and spiritual mentoring, I help people remember who they are, reconnect with their soul, and learn to walk both worlds with confidence.

Sometimes the greatest journey isn’t discovering somewhere new.

Sometimes it’s finding your way home.
